These days, I am a bit obsessed by cars.
Only a bit, because I realize that, compared to other people, I really am not; but still relatively "obsessed" in that it 'has' become a major issue for me, finally getting a car of my own, and being free of the crowd of loonies and brats your have to deal with when travelling on trains and such...
So. Anyway.
I might actually be able to finally get a car next autumn. Just when the French car registration system has changed.
So, by the time I get 'my' car, whether it's new or second-hand, I will be faced with a major dilemma: which region do I pay allegiance to?
Let me explain: it used to be you didn't get a choice, because when you bought a car, the plate showed a sort of serial number (random from the point of view of the buyer) followed by the "département" number you actually lived in. If you moved, you had the plate changed because your car had to show where it lived.
Not so anymore.
From now on, French cars are going to carry the same plate throughtout their existence, even when they change hands or town.
Boring, I can hear you say.
Not completely. The perk here, is that when you buy a new car, or, a second-hand one still carrying an old plate, you can choose your "département" number. It doesn't have to be the one you actually inhabit.
I'm thinking French Polynesia...

Still, this is a far cry from the vanity plates you can buy in the US or even, as I just discovered, in Britain.
I just came across http://www.northumbrianumbers.com and this was how I realized how easily you could actually choose your number plate in Britain.
The site has this fun search function that allows you to look for an available car registration plate that would actually mean something for you. And the search results show you directly whether you can afford it or not...

Unfortunately, in my case, the one I would really, but really like is the one you get when you pick "jaguar" as a favourite car manufacturer... It would be so perfect for me.
Go look it up!
I'm afraid my banker would beg to differ...
But there are still a number of affordable options with the letters MEH. I would like that!
You'll see there are actually many different search keys you can use— budget (don't we all...) up or down, person, maker, etc.

This site has me back fantasizing about flying to Britain and driving back in my own Jag.

1) What is your favourite word?
I think it would have to be sweetheart, I'm always calling everyone by that name, male or female!!
2) What is / are your favourite material(s) / fabric(s)?
I love paper, there are such a variety of colours, patterns and textures, I don't think I could ever get bored with it!
3) Do you have a favourite colour?
Yes, I absolutely love red, ever since I can remember I've always loved it. I'll often be drawn to something just because its red and for no other reason, which is a bit mad!!
4) What good are your five senses to you?
Without them I wouldn't be able to appreciate all the wonderful things in this world. From the smell of fresh cut grass, to seeing a beautiful view, the sounds of birds in the trees, the sense to feel a much needed hug and to be able to taste food, especially chocolate!!
5) Why the need to make things?
I'm not sure, I've just always felt the need to create, whether it's drawing, needlework, sewing, papercrafts or any other craft that I get the urge to try.
6) What is your most ambitious project at the moment?
I've only recently set up on Dawanda, so I would say that it's definitely my most ambitious project. Making stock, taking photos that look professional enough, making contacts through various networking sites, promoting the shop, etc has been a steep learning curve as I have never sold my papercrafts before either off or online.
7) What is your pet (non-creative!) addiction?
It would have to be books, I love to read! I can often read a book from cover to cover in a day if I have the time, like on a rainy day. Books are a bit like old friends, it's nice to revisit ones that you haven't read for a while, even when you know the plot and the ending!!


1) Quel est votre mot préféré ?
Je crois bien que c'est "sweetheart" [quelque chose comme "mon (petit) coeur" - Note de la traductrice...] : j'appelle tout le monde comme ça, hommes ou femmes!
2) Votre / Vos matériaux / fibre(s) préféré(s) ?
J'adore le papier : il en existe une telle variété de couleurs, motifs et textures. je ne crois pas que je pourrai jamais m'en lasser...
3) Avez-vous une couleur préférée ?
Oh, oui! J'adore absolument le rouge, depuis toujours. Très souvent, je suis attirée par quelque chose juste parce que c'est rouge… ce qui est un peu dingue !!
4) A quoi vous servent vos cinq sens ?
Sans eux, je ne pourrais pas apprécier toutes les choses merveilleuses de ce monde. Sentir le parfum de l'herbe coupée, voir un beau paysage, entendre le chant des oiseaux dans le arbres, se sentir serré dans les bras de quelqu'un quand on en a besoin et pouvoir déguster la nourriture, surtout le chocolat !!
5) Pourquoi créer ?
Je ne sais pas trop : c'est juste que j'ai toujours ressenti le besoin de créer, que ce soit en dessinant, en brodant, en cousant, avec le papier, ou encore dans n'importe quelle activité manuelle créative que je ressens le besoin d'essayer.
6) Votre projet ambitieux du moment ?
Je viens seulement de créer ma boutique sur Dawanda, alors, pour l'instant, c'est ça mon projet le plus ambitieux. Fabriquer des articles en quantité suffisante, prendre des photos qui ont l'air suffisamment professionnel, prendre des contacts sur les différents sites communautaires et me créer un réseau, faire la promotion de ma boutique, etc. J'ai dû apprendre beaucoup de choses en peu de temps car je n'avais encore jamais vendu mes cartes, pas plus en ligne qu'ailleurs.
7) Votre addiction (non-créative !) ?
IJe pense que c'est les livres : j'aime énormément lire ! Il m'arrive souvent de lire un livre en entier dans la journée, si j'ai le temps, un jour de pluie, par exemple. Les livres sont un peu comme de vieux amis, et c'est agréable de rendre visite à ceux qu'on n'a pas vus depuis longtemps, même quand on connaît l'intrigue et son dénouement !!

Pour ma première “interview” d’un vendeur pas comme les autres sur DaWanda depuis quelques mois (je sais...), je suis ravie de pouvoir vous présenter le travail de Sweetbonny qui crée des cartes très originales et de la papeterie personnalisée débordant de fantaisie (indubitablement!) et pleines d’élégance.
Il faut absolument aller voir la boutique de Sweetbonny sur DaWanda, ne serait-ce que pour cette chouette qui m’a fait de l’oeil et dont je ne suis pas certaine qu’elle n’exprime que la sagesse...

1) What is your favourite word?
Fun. Can you see that in my cards?

Computer, paper and imagination. Can't live without them :)

3) Do you have a favourite colour?
Green! It's always my first choice of color for everything. Especially living here in the great northwest, green (trees) are thick and lush! Keeping me mellow most of the time.

4) What good are your five senses to you?
Being a Thai person, all my five senses go to cooking (after my loved ones.) I love feeling the textures and seeing all the colorful ingredients, smelling the food while it's cooking, tasting a mix of sweet, sour, salty and spicy in one bite and hearing the laughters around the table.

5) Why the need to make things?
Besides from the love of drawing, it's great to see my work appreciated around the world. It motivates me to keep coming up with new ideas.

6) What is your most ambitious project at the moment?
I'm working on a logo and stationery for one of my clients right now. It's not easy creating an identity for a stranger.... I love that challenge!

7) What is your pet (non-creative!) addiction?
Japanese manga. I'm addicted to manga since I learned to read until now. It relaxes me and brings back my childhood. And somehow that doesn't make me forget who I am in this rat race world.

Ordinateur, papier et imagination. Je ne pourrais pas vivre sans eux :)

3) Avez-vous une couleur préférée?
Le vert! C’est toujours mon premier choix, pour quoi que ce soit. Et surtout, comme je vis dans le nord-ouest des Etats-Unis, la verdure (des arbres) est riche et abondante! Ce qui me permet d’être presque toujours de bonne humeur.

4) A quoi vous servent vos cinq sens?
Comme je suis Thaï, mes cinq sens s’expriment dans la cuisine (en dehors de mes relations avec ceux que j’aime). J’aime toucher les textures différentes et voir toutes les couleurs des ingredients, sentir les arômes de la nourriture qui cuit, goûter un mélange de sucré, d’amer, de salé et d’épicé dans une seule bouchée, et puis entendre les rires autour de la table.

5) Pourquoi créer?
En dehors de mon amour du dessin, c’est très agréable et excitant de voir mon travail apprécié dans le monde entier. Ça me motive pour continuer à trouver de nouvelles idées.


6) Votre projet ambitieux du moment?
Je suis en train de travailler sur un logo et de la papeterie personnalisée pour un de mes clients. Ce n’est pas facile de créer une identité pour un étranger.... J’adore ce genre de défi !

7) Votre addiction (non-créative !) ?
Les mangas japonais. Je suis accro aux mangas depuis que j’ai appris à lire ; aujourd’hui encore. Ça me détend et me replonge en enfance. Et d’une certaine manière, ça m’empêche d’oublier qui je suis vraiment dans ce monde toujours si compétitif.
